On your homepage I still see xsibackup version 9.1.9 - when will the new version with that bug corrected finally be released?
So the feature is not implemented, that's the information I was looking for (if it's not implemented or just not documented)
Thank you for the quick feedback and the tips how to proceed.
The cron Howto
https://33hops.com/xsibackup-cron-how-to.html
Has an example for exclusion of disks:
Example:
/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/xsibackup-dir/xsibackup --time="Mon 01:59|Tue 14:58|Wed 17:23|Thu 01:59|Fri 21:59|Sat 10:33|Sun 04:51"
--backup-point="/vmfs/volumes/backup" --backup-type=custom --backup-vms="XP01,W701!scsi2:0;scsi3:1;scsi3:2,LIN02,BSD03"
But the syntax W701!scsi2:0;scsi3:1;scsi3:2
is not working, the excluded disks are backed up anyway.
Is it possible to configure xsibackup-cron to run monthly at a specific day and time?
The help to xsibackup-cron only shows examples of --time parameter like "Mon 01:59".
Would something like "4th Mon 01:00" be possible, to run at the fourth Monday each month?
Well, the message was plain text and did not contain any code.
When you discard a message you should inform the user about it and not give a message saying it accepted the message and would send a copy to the given email address.
Great to hear!
Thank you for the quick feedback.
I have the issue that sending email worked on the first run of XSIbackup after install but all subsequent tries (with exactly the same email settings) fail.
I investigated the issue by analysing the network traffic between xsibackup and the mail server and I found out when trying to connect to the outgoing SMTP server xsi backup sends mail command
"EHLO vmwarename\n"
to the server.
This is rejected by the server with error "544 SMTP synchronization error" because this is wrong syntax.
Correct would be "EHLO vmwarename\r\n".
Seen with a exim mailserver.
Best regards
Florian
Hi,
your Web contact form at
33hops.com Contact Form
seems not to work.
I tried to send a bug report for XSIBackup through that form.
It said it accepted the entry and would send a copy to the email address given, but I never received that copy, so I guess it never got to you.
Best regards
Florian
